ICAI's Annual Function inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Om Birla, Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha Attended by 1500 Members



The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) celebrated its Annual Function on February 8, 2024. Chief Guest Shri Om Birla, Hon'ble Speaker, Lok Sabha inaugurated the function in the presence of CA. Aniket Sunil Talati, President, ICAI; CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, Vice-President, ICAI, CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, Immediate Past President, ICAI and Central and Regional Council Members, ICAI. The function witnessed the presence of more than 1500 members and stakeholders from across the globe.

CA. (Dr.) Jai Kumar Batra, Secretary, ICAI welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.

Addressing the audience Shri Om Birla, Hon'ble Speaker, Lok Sabha said “In the dynamic landscape of India's economic realm, I express my heartfelt congratulations to ICAI, the largest accountancy Institution, for its rapid strides in the nation's financial fabric. To an Institution with over 75 years of establishment, I extend my gratitude to ICAI for the exceptional excellence displayed in ICAI's examinations. Amidst various challenges, the Chartered Accountancy exam stands unparalleled.”



Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha also added, “ICAI's impact extends beyond numbers; it influences the banking system, businesses, and industries. CAs serve as advisors during budget deliberations, playing a critical role in our economy. New companies thrive under the guidance of CAs, adopting technological advancements. As we dream of a developed India, I firmly believe that ICAI's greatest contribution lies in empowering these aspirations, steering the nation towards progress and prosperity.”

The Hon’ble Speaker reiterated, “India shall be a developed nation by 2047, and Chartered Accountants will play a great role in it. CAs would be major contributors in the achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.”

During the Presidential address, CA. Aniket Sunil Talati, President, ICAI stated “As we celebrate our 75th year, the new logo of ICAI embodies 75 years of trust, guiding ICAI into the future. As a regulator, our endorsed examination system ensures transparency. Continued Professional Education (CPE), emphasized with a new curriculum launched by Hon’ble President of India , Smt. Droupadi Murmu, is pivotal.”

President, ICAI further added “This year, marked by Forensic Accounting and Investigation Standards, cements ICAI's global role as a standard setter. Dedicated to excellence, ICAI stands tall with forward-thinking leadership.”

While delivering Vote of thanks, CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, Vice-President, ICAI shared “In yet another remarkable year of ICAI, the 74th Annual function celebrates the commendable potential of our young CA members who embody the future of our institution and the nation. As we strive for India's development by 2047, these young Chartered accountants play a pivotal role in driving ICAI's success. Recognizing the need for one lakh Chartered accountants for every trillion-dollar economy, this dynamic young population is steering our institution in the right direction. ICAI's focus on women empowerment, with numerous branches and chapters led by inspiring women leaders, marks a significant stride in our pursuit of excellence.”

During the function awards were distributed to Rank Holders of CA Examinations under various categories. Regional Council, Branches & Overseas Chapters of ICAI were also Awarded under various categories.
