ICAI Sets Guinness World Record with India's Largest Career Guidance Lesson for Youth




The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the world's largest accounting body has set a Guinness World Record for conducting the largest careers advice lesson during the "Career in Accounting and Finance for Youth (CAFY 4.0) & Super Mega Career Counselling Programme - भविष्य की राह" held in Mumbai.

The event witnessed the gathering with more than 7,400 students, teachers, principals & others participating in the event. The eligible record count achieved - 6,166 students which build the record-breaking title of the "Largest careers advice lesson". The record is registered in Guinness World Records and the jury of Guinness World Records felicitated. The programme commenced with a formal inaugural session featuring the dignitaries and esteemed guests from ICAI and various government departments.

On this achievement, CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, President, ICAI, congratulated the ICAI team on achieving this feat and said, "Achieving a Guinness World Record for the largest career advice lesson is a proud moment that shows how deeply ICAI values guiding young minds. Reaching over 6,166 students in one session has helped them make informed choices and opened doors to opportunities beyond borders, equipping the next generation with the wisdom, integrity and confidence to shape a stronger future".

The programme aimed to equip students from Class VI to graduation with structured, accurate and inspiring career guidance in different streams like humanities, science and commerce and emerging disciplines aligned with India's dynamic economy. Students were made to understand the difference between a job and a long-term career, explore diverse and emerging opportunities across science, commerce, arts, sports and digital domains.

The event began with an inaugural ceremony graced by ICAI dignitaries and eminent guests from government and academia, who emphasized the importance of ethical, informed and future-oriented career choices.

Students participated in focused career guidance sessions on "Choosing the Right Career" and "Guiding Students Towards Purposeful Careers", which highlighted self-awareness, individual strengths, personal interests and thoughtful decision-making. Additionally, comprehensive guidance was also provided on opportunities in commerce, the CA course structure, ICAI’s merit-based and cost-effective education ecosystem, the availability of scholarships and the broad spectrum of global career avenues open to Chartered Accountants.

A key attraction of CAFY 4.0 was the coordinated attempt under the theme "Largest careers advice lesson". ICAI conducted a structured, curriculum-based guidance session for over 6,166 students under one roof at NESCO, with thousands more joining simultaneously from across India. The attempt followed a formal briefing by the official adjudicator and witnesses, ensuring adherence to international standards for recognition as the largest careers advice lesson. Expert speakers delivered a well-designed session crafted to meet all record-attempt parameters.

The programme also featured inspirational speeches and motivational sessions by ICAI leadership and distinguished guests, who highlighted the role of commerce education, financial literacy and the contribution of Chartered Accountants to national development. Motivational speakers encouraged students to cultivate a growth mindset, clarity of purpose, resilience and the habit of continuous learning in a world driven by technology, innovation and new-age careers.
