The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) inaugurated the ICAI International ADR Centre (IIAC), a Section 8 company under the aegis of ICAI to promote and institutionalise Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in India.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Law & Justice in New Delhi.
This marks ICAI's strategic entry into the crucial domain of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR), which plays a significant role at the intersection of commercial, legal, and economic interests of the nation.
On this occasion, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Law & Justice said "Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) is not a foreign concept to India, it is part of India's cultural legacy, and with the launch of the ICAI International ADR Centre, we take a major step toward making India a global hub for fast, fair, and cost-effective dispute resolution. This initiative reflects ICAI's commitment to strengthening trust and reducing legal pendency through structured, professional mechanisms".
CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, President of ICAI, said, "In this evolving business ecosystem, effective dispute resolution is no longer a procedural formality; it is a strategic necessity and IIAC aims to provide this necessity with credibility, neutrality, and efficiency, values that are at the core of ICAI's professional ethos. The IIAC will serve as a specialised institutional platform offering structured and time-bound arbitration, mediation, conciliation, and negotiation services that are professionally managed, process-driven, and globally benchmarked".
These Centres will further strengthen the ecosystem for commercial dispute resolution by offering a transparent and technology-enabled mechanism that inspires confidence among domestic and international stakeholders. The Centre will operate under a robust governance framework and uphold the highest standards of integrity, neutrality, and professional excellence.

Prasanna Kumar D, Vice-President of ICAI, added, "The vision for the IIAC is to establish it as a globally recognised ADR institution that upholds the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, fosters innovation in dispute resolution, and contributes significantly to India's emergence as a preferred destination for commerce and Dispute Resolution. Through IIAC, ICAI aims to champion accessible justice, expedite dispute resolution, and ultimately support sustainable economic growth".
ICAI recognizes that credible ADR institutions play a critical role in enhancing the ease of doing business, reducing litigation & judicial burden and strengthening investor confidence. With the IIAC, we are not just launching an ADR Centre; we are laying the foundation for an institution that will serve as a professional, impartial, and efficient hub for dispute resolution in India and beyond.
