ICAI invites applications from highly competent candidates for the positions of
Secretary, Technical Director, Director (Taxation) and Academic and Technical Resources at all levels.


ICAI, the second largest accounting body in the world, set up by an Act of Parliament, is looking for high profile and multi-faceted personalities with leadership qualities, excellent communication, interpersonal and motivational skills for the positions of Secretary, Technical Director, Director (Taxation) and Academic and Technical Resources at all levels. A.   SECRETARY (statutory position) Location: New Delhi
  • Largely responsible for furthering the Institute’s objectives of regulation and development of the Accountancy Profession, by being in constant touch with other statutory / regulatory / professional bodies within and outside India and the Governments at large.
  • To be the external face of ICAI with international and regional / sub-regional professional accounting bodies, such as, IFAC, IASB, IAASB, CAPA, SAFA, etc.

PROFILE

  • Brilliant academic career, outstanding track record and also flair for taking up multifaceted challenging assignments.
  • Currently occupying a top management / managerial position (directly involved in policy making and formulating strategies) reporting only to the Board of Directors / CEO of the organisation concerned.
  • Relevant experience: 20 years or more in any renowned / reputed regulatory / professional / educational body / institution in the Government, Public or Private Sector.
  • Membership of ICAI with a first class Degree from a renowned University would be an added advantage. [Condition relaxable in exceptional cases].
  • 45+ years (relaxable in deserving cases)
B.   TECHNICAL DIRECTOR Location: New Delhi
  • Largely responsible for supporting the Accounting Standards Board, Committee for Implementation of Indian Accounting Standards (IFRS), Committee for Accounting Standards for Local Bodies, Research Committee, Expert Advisory Committee and other assignments relating to providing inputs to the accounting pronouncements issued by the Institute.
  • The work includes liaising with the relevant international bodies, such as International Accounting Standards Board and the Governmental and Regulatory Authorities, such as Ministry of Corporate Affairs, RBI, SEBI, IRDA and other such authorities on accounting matters.

PROFILE

  • Essential knowledge for the incumbent would include expert knowledge of the Accounting Standards in India and IFRSs apart from the other pronouncements, such as Guidance Notes, Opinions of Expert Advisory Committee and other technical literature issued by the ICAI, Further, Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Local Bodies, Government Accounting Standards issued by C&AG and International Public Sector Accounting Standards issued by International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board of IFAC would be useful.
  • The skills required include application of the aforesaid pronouncements in specific situation with a view to advise the relevant Committees/Board and to draft the relevant pronouncements.
  • This would require ability to objectively analyse issues involved in various accounting alternatives and perceive their implications in implementation.
  • Chartered Accountant or equivalent with experience of application of Accounting Standards in India and or abroad of 15 years.
  • 45+ years (relaxable in deserving cases)
C.   DIRECTOR (TAXATION) Location: New Delhi
  • Responsible for supporting the Committees on Direct Taxes, Indirect Taxes and International Taxation and involve himself in all tasks and assignments relating to formulation of ICAI inputs for submission to various authorities.
  • Co-ordination with Governmental and Regulatory Authorities, Industry Associations, Chambers of Commerce, Organisation of Certificate Courses, acting as Faculty / Programme Co-ordinators etc. in Seminars / Conferences / Certificate Course Classes etc.

PROFILE

  • Expert knowledge of tax laws including international taxation.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse tax laws.
  • Chartered Accountant with Post qualification experience of about 20 years involving practical exposure and proven academic contribution.
  • 45+ years (relaxable in deserving cases).

Salary payable for the above positions under contractual engagement is negotiable, commensurate with relevant post qualification experience, qualification, academic track record etc. which among others, would seek to protect, to the extent feasible, the current salary drawn by deserving candidates. Present scale is under revision.

D.   ACADEMIC / TECHNICAL RESOURCES

  • ICAI is constantly augmenting its intellectual capital base in technical and academic wings with tested and competent officers of the levels of Additional Director, Joint Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Director, Executive Officer in such core areas as accounting, auditing and assurance, government accounting, direct taxes, indirect taxes, public finance, capital market, XBRL with knowledge of Accounting Standards and other pronouncements of the Institute, corporate, economic and commercial laws, Financial Management, Management Accounting and information technology.
  • Candidates with impressive, consistent and proven academic/professional track record and relevant post qualification experience alone should apply for positions other than entry level slot.

Present total monthly emoluments inclusive of Basic Pay, DA at Central Govt. rates and HRA at 35% of Basic pay and Transport subsidy will be:

1 Additional Director Rs.1,75,000
2 Joint Director Rs.1,30,000
3 Deputy Director Rs.1,05,000
4 Assistant Director Rs. 60,000
5 Education /Technical/ Executive Officers Rs. 50,500


Other usual benefits such as Children Education Allowance, LTC, PF, Pension etc as per rules of the Institute would also be applicable.
