| Valuation plays a critical role in financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, insolvency resolution, restructuring and various other financial and commercial decisions. Consistency, transparency and reliability in valuation practices are essential to enhance the quality and credibility of valuation outcomes. To promote uniformity, consistency and quality in valuation practices, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) constituted the Valuation Standards Board (VSB) in 2017-18, which formulated the ICAI Valuation Standards, 2018 and issued related guidance and technical materials to facilitate their implementation. The Standards provide a framework of accepted valuation principles and practices, aligned with international practices while considering India's prevailing legal and regulatory framework. Building upon the foundation of the ICAI Valuation Standards, 2018, ICAI through its Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Valuation Standards Board (IB and VSB), has undertaken a comprehensive revision and updation of these Standards to keep them aligned with evolving valuation practices and regulatory requirements. The revision takes into consideration the inputs and suggestions received from valuation experts and stakeholders, wherever appropriate and encompasses emerging developments in valuation, relevant International Valuation Standards, applicable laws and regulations and the specific requirements of the Indian valuation ecosystem. In furtherance of its commitment to transparency, objectivity and wider stakeholder participation in the standard-setting process, the Exposure Drafts of the ICAI Valuation Standards, 2026 are hereby being issued for public comments and suggestions. The following draft of the ICAI Valuation Standards, 2026 have been exposed for public comments to be received latest by 22nd November, 2026:
Looking forward for your valuable suggestions at the earliest. With Regards, |
