Background of the Institute

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949. During its nearly six decades of existence, ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body, in the country and globally for its contribution in the fields of education, professional development, maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards. ICAI now is the second largest accounting body in the whole world.

Background of Professional Development Committee

Professional Development Committee is one of the non-standing committees of the Institute. The Mission of the Professional Development Committee is to explore, derive, develop, assure and make available opportunities for the use of the professional talents and skills of Chartered Accountants in different sectors of the world of Business, Trade and Commerce, Service, Infrastructure Governance and Society as a whole and to ensure that such opportunities are available equitably to all Chartered Accountants with due regard to their professional abilities and attributes.

Professional Development Portal

It is an on–line Portal set up by Professional Development Committee to collect, collate, and present relevant information for the use of the members of ICAI. The portal contains the following features:
  • Matters of professional interest, and any knowledge that is necessary for practice and professional development.
  • Relevant Council decisions as may be provided by the Professional Development Committee from time to time.
  • Announcements/Guidelines issued by the Professional Development Committee/Council of the Institute from time to time.
  • Actions taken by the Institute with regard to various new and existing practice areas.
  • Tenders and consulting assignments – announcements in India and abroad (gists with links provided).
  • Reports from national and international newspapers, journals and magazines and other media including various websites having a bearing on Professional Development.
  • Circulars of various Regulators including RBI, IRDA, SEBI, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Company Affairs etc. (gists of circulars, with links provided to the relevant site).
  • Addresses, names and telephone numbers of various Union and State Government Officials.
  • Link to E-mail address of practice support cell.
  • Hyperlinks to various sections of the Institute’s Website.
  • Forthcoming Seminars and Conferences to be organized under the aegis of the Professional Development Committee. Links will also be provided to the main sections of the ICAI Website for seminars and conferences.
  • Judgments of various Courts of importance for the profession.
  • Capability of addressing e-mails to Portal users everyday. Such e-mails will contain important information and messages as may be decided.
  • Completely outsourced knowledge and content management services.
  • Any other matter as the ICAI may decide from time to time.
The portal shall provide the following services:

E-mails to users on updates – As a user of the portal, one will get daily mailers on updates in various practice areas including tenders, if the user registers himself for this service with the website.

Forum (with a moderator facility) – The member can post their queries in this section which will be answered by other members / users of the portal. It is an open discussion area.

Networking facility - Network is associations of different firms/ members who identify a common name (brand) and adopt collaborative approach yet retain their own identity and ownership of their individual practices. Networking is establishing association with members/firms who share similar ideas, goals and visions and who complement strengths of participants of the Network.

Invitation for Expression of Interest
To provide services of designing, developing, maintaining, and managing the content of Knowledge Portal for providing services to members of ICAI, Expressions of Interest are invited from reputed/experienced agencies having atleast 5 years of relevant experience containing the following details.
  • Profile of the Organization
  • Details of Management personnel and their brief details.
  • Relevant experience
  • Details of major Previous clients
  • Any other detail, including service commitments, which will enhance the candidature of the organization for the proposed purpose.
Institute reserves the right to reject or accept any or all application(s) without assigning any reasons. Conditional tenders are liable to be rejected.
