Diamond Jubilee Year Celebrations

Report on ICAI International Study Tour to Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore

August 10, 2008 to August 17, 2008

In pursuance to the Action Plan adopted by the Committee on Trade Laws and WTO for the year 2008-09, Committee on Trade Laws and WTO (CTL&WTO) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India jointly with Bhilai Branch of CIRC of the ICAI had organized Diamond Jubilee ICAI International Study Tour to Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore during August 10 -17, 2008 for members on self financing basis. A large number of responses were received from the members and the group comprised of 54 participants (covering 20 Cities spread over 12 States of India), out of which 13 members were also accompanied by their spouse.  The region-wise participation, to the Tour is as follows:-

The delegation was led by CA. Anuj Goyal, Chairman, Committee on Trade Laws & WTO. The group also had the privilege of having CA. Laxmi Narayan Agrawal, Vice-Chairman, Bhilai Branch of CIRC of the ICAI. CA. Mohit Baijal, Sr. Asstt. Director & Secretary, Committee on Trade Laws & WTO had also accompanied the delegation.M/s TUI India, New Delhi was appointed as tour operator for the ICAI International Study tour to Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore for making all the travel arrangements. Two Tour Managers from M/s TUI India had also accompanied the delegates during the entire tour. 

 

The delegates for the ICAI International Study Tour to Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore had interactive meetings with Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI), Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI), Indian High Commission, Singapore and with the Indian Members in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. These meetings would further facilitate the accounting profession in both the countries and some of the initiatives of the group may further be explored by collaboration and cooperation in the areas of networking, establishing the technical desk, research projects, joint learning programmes further exploring/expediting the process of mutual recognition agreements in the respective countries as the instant study tour had further enhanced the understanding of their systems and processes etc.  particularly in view of the finding of the study tour that Malaysian Institute of Accountants, which is the licensing body for Accountants in Malaysia, already recognizes the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India as one of the recognized bodies under Part II of the First Schedule of the Accountants Act, 1967.
