Report on National Convention for CA Students held at Lucknow on 23rd & 24th August, 2014

Under the aegis of Board of Studies, Lucknow Branch of CIRC of ICAI jointly with Lucknow Branch of CICASA hosted a National Convention of CA Student on 23rd & 24th August 2014. The theme of the convention was “CHANGING TIMES RE-MODELING INDIA”. The convention was a historic event, where more than 1100 students participated as delegates and was held at the most prestigious venue at Indira Gandhi Prathisthan, Lucknow.

The formal inaugural session was graced by Chief Guest Honourable Governor of Uttar Pradesh Sh. Ram Naik, Guest of Honor CA. Uttam Prakash Agarwal, Past President, ICAI, CA. Anuj Goyal- Central Council Member, CA. Avichal Kapur- Secretary, CIRC, CA. CL Yadav- Chairman CICASA - CIRC were also present in inaugural session.

The Convention was attended by Managing committee members of Lucknow Branch viz CA.Sandeep Bhatnagar – Chairman Lucknow Branch of CIRC of ICAI, CA. Sandeep Kumar- Vice Chairman Lucknow Branch of CIRC of ICAI , CA. Pradeep Kumar Goyal Secretary Lucknow Branch of CIRC of ICAI , CA. Priyanka Garg – Treasurer Lucknow Branch of CIRC of ICAI , CA. Jayant Pandey –CICASA Chairman -Lucknow Branch of CIRC of ICAI and Galaxy of past Regional Council Members, past chairmen of Lucknow Branch etc.

Out of more than 50 papers received from CA Students 18 best papers were selected to present their paper in the Technical Sessions on the topics ranging from Financial Reporting, Auditing & Assurance, Economy, Companies Act 2013, and Direct & Indirect Taxes.

The first session was held on Financial Reporting and Auditing Assurance in which there were four student speakers. Session was chaired by CA. Atul Mohan. CA. Vikas jain Ex- Chairman of CIRC shared his experience with CA. Students. Ms. Asthas Kundara from Ludhinia delivered her paper on the Accounting Standard Applicability- ICAI V/s Companies Act 2013, Ekta Burman from Lucknow also presented her paper on the Topic Balance Sheet Analysis of Government of India for F/Y-2014. Dr. R K Verma delivered his lecture on” HOW TO BE HAPPY” in life. Shreya Chawla from Lucknow presented her paper on AS-4, AS-5 and AS-29 and Nelanshi Shukla from Kanpur presented her paper on Risk based audit and challenges therein. Ms.Bani Walia representing CICASA presented her vote of thanks.

After that, second technical session was held on Economic- Inspiring Today for Tomorrow in which there were four student speaker and session was chaired by CA. Rajesh Srivastava . Session was started with talk with student by CIRC member CA. Vinay Mittal. Session was specially addressed by CA. Yagnesh Desai from Mumbai on “Boundless Opportunities” after this CA. Piyush Agarwal CIRC Treasurer talk with Students . Bhawika Lakhani from Lucknow was the Student Speaker. Second speaker Mr. Pulkit Agarwal from Indore presented his paper on Conversion of Private Ltd. Company into LLP. Third Student Speaker Mr. Harsh Baid from Howrah presented his paper on “Economic impact of proposed river linking Project”. Pritika Bhargawa and Rachna Pandey from Lucknow also presented their paper.

At the End of Second Technical Session mega Cultural Night “FRELSA” was celebrated by CA.Students and Members and same was highly appreciated by the participants.

On the second day i.e., on 24th August 2014, third technical session was held on Companies Act- 2013. A Special Session on “Interaction with Board of Studies” was organized wherein CA. M. Devaraja Reddy, Chairman, Board of Studies interacted with the students. Third Technical Session was chaired by CA. Ashok Seth. Session was specially addressed by Prof. Himanshu Rai from IIM Lucknow on” Leadership”. Student speakesr Palak Arora from Jamu, Parmjeet Singh from New Delhi , Hridesh Jain from Mumbai, Vikas Jain from Jaipur , Damani Agarwal From Lucknow present their paper on the various topics of Companies Act -2013 and special topic.

After that, fourth technical session held on Direct and Indirect Taxes. Session started with interaction with famous film producer and director Shri Muzaffar Ali . Session was chaired by CA. Dhruv Seth. There were four Students speaker Nihirika Saboo from Guwahati, Akriti Srivastava from Lucknow, Nupur Gupta from Mirazpur and Syed Irshad Ali from Nagpur all presented their paper on the various topics of Direct & Indirect Taxes and special paper.

The Convention got huge media publicity at almost all the big players of the print media had widely covered the entire event. The whole event was managed and executed by volunteers of Lucknow Branch of CICASA. Over all the Convention was a historically grand success and was successful in achieving its desired objectives.
