| A delegation from the European Commission Internal market led by Mr Pierre Delsaux , Director along with Mr. Jeroen Hooijer, Head of Accounting Unit and Mr. Jurgen Tiedje, Head of Auditing Unit had visited ICAI on 7th March 2008 at ICAI Bhawan , New Delhi and met CA Ved Jain, President and CA Uttam Prakash Agarwal, Vice President. During the meeting Dr. Ashok Haldia, Secretary , CA Amarjit Chopra, Chairman , Acccounting Standards Board, CA Harinderjit Singh, Chairman, Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, Dr. Avinash Chander, Technical Director and Mr. Vijay Kapur, Director also joined to discuss on the recent developments in Auditing and Accounting in India and European Union. Mr. Jitesh Khosla , Joint Secretary , MCA also participated in the meeting. Mr. Alexander Spachin, Deputy Head of Delegation and Ms. Sanchita Chatterjee, Economic Advisor from Trade & Economic Affairs Section ,European Union ,Delegation of the European Commission to India, Bhutan and Nepal, New Delhi also attended the meeting. |

| ICAI in India has decided to adopt IFRSs by 1 April 2011 subject to approval by the Government and the regulators and European Commission would be adopting IFRS by December 31, 2008. |

| After discussing the economic scenario in India and member states of European Commission, the approach of public authorities towards adoption of IFRS and International Auditing Standards were deliberated. It was also decided to work closely for adoption of International Standards and to look for way forward towards reconciliation of any major difference in the process of their adoption. |
