The Vision Committee organized Interactive Workshops at Chennai on 28th May 2009, at Kanpur on 4th June 2009 and at Pune on 6th June 2009, wherein the elite stakeholders of the profession including Past Presidents, Past and Present Central Council Members of the Institute, Past Chairmen to Regional Councils and expert professionals from Industry like CEOs and CFOs of big industrial entities into various sectors of economy were invited to discuss and deliberate upon certain vital issues and aspects having an impact or expected to have an impact on the profession in current and coming times. The issues discussed are as under:
  • The Role that the chartered accountants and accounting technicians will be called upon to play in times to come - which are the new areas that may open up for the profession and which of the current areas of practise will become more significant in next 2-3 years

  • Expectations of the society at large and businesses, in particular, from members of ICAI

  • Education and training needs for students and members in light of role and expectations

  • Other areas where members can provide service effectively to businesses

  • Expected areas of competition and the manner in which the members could be equipped to deal with them,

  • Role that the regulatory and developmental body, ICAI, ought to play in this regard
Great enthusiasm and active participation was noticed in these Workshops and the vital inputs gathered through these workshops are expected to lead to a practical, and more realistic Vision Statement for the profession as well as Institute.
