Need for CAAT
As we are aware, businesses are increasingly making use of computers/ information technology to process & manage their operations, particularly those related to accounts & finance. While physical records are fast disappearing, the volume and variety of transactions is increasing in increasing proportion. In the times to come, accountants and auditors have to increasingly make use of the computers for their requirements for financial analysis and reporting for accounting, auditing, taxation and other requirements.
CAAT Resources CD V 2.1
The CIT, recognizing this professional requirement, has issued the “CAAT Resources CD” (V 2.1) to enable members to develop in this area. Apart from containing working copies of four CAAT tools, the CD contains walkthroughs (step-by-step procedure of doing typical analysis with voice explanations), presentations, user guides, case studies etc. The CD enables members to have a hands-on practical experience in seeing and working with CAAT tools to have a better understanding of their capabilities and utility. We are sure that the Regional Council/ Branch would like to explore this CD as a part of their interactive programmes with the members.

A copy of this CD is provided to members participating in the ISA & CAAT Courses organized by the CIT and the same is also available for sale at a nominal price of Rs.40/- each. The Regional Councils/ Branches/ CPE Chapters can requisition required number of copies considering demand from members, as in the case of other publications of the Institute.
CPE Course on CAAT
Recognising CAAT as a thrust area for members to develop, the CIT organizes a CPE Course on CAAT for 100 hours to provide the required level of training and development support, in this critical area for members.

The syllabus of this course has also been thoroughly revised and revamped to better address the requirements of members in using computers for their financial/ accounting/ auditing analysis and reporting requirements, as can be seen in the enclosed announcement.
Practical Workshops
The CIT also organizes Practical Workshops on (a) Using CAAT’s and (b) Using MS-Excel as a tool for Financial Analysis & Reporting from time to time considering demand from members through the Regional Councils/ Offices/ Branches. These workshops have been found to be very useful by members and they are often convinced to join the CAAT Course. Practical Workshops are found to be very good starting points for members to start developing in this field, by getting expert level guidance and support.
Background Materials
The CIT has already issued three volumes of Background Materials for the CAAT Course. These are also available for sale at a nominal cost of Rs.400/- per set. The CIT is in the process of developing and making available more such materials.
