Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan launched by Hon’ble Prime Minster of India Shri Narendra Modi on 2nd October, 2014 not only aims at correcting the country's reputation for poor public hygiene and rudimentary sanitation but also promises a positive economic impact. It is a more of a privilege that the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is the first professional body in the country which has been nominated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister to take this Abhiyaan forward.

As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility to be undertaken by the Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) governed by the Ministry of Power, PSUs will spend their CSR funds for construction of toilet facilities in such schools not having or having insufficient toilet facilities. It has been desired by the Ministry of Power that the amount spent under such activity be verified suitably and services of chartered accountants be utilized for the purpose on Pro Bono basis.

In view of the above, all practicing chartered accountants are requested to communicate their interest for undertaking assignments on Pro Bono basis for verification of CSR Funds spends by the PSUs governed by the Ministry of Power as per guidelines/framework to be provided by Ministry. Interested members may fill and submit the attached format at swachhbharatpdc@icai.in .

Given our track-record as a partner in nation building, we all should contribute our individual as well as collective might to make this initiative a grand success. This is an opportunity for all of us to associate and contribute in professional manner towards Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
