A two-day National Convention for CA students was hosted by WIRC of ICAI and WICASA under the aegis of Board of Studies on 2nd & 3rd of January, 2015 at Bhaidas Hall, Vile Parle(W). The theme of the convention “Thinking above and Beyond” .

This Convention being an academic meet was a combination of 4 Technical sessions and 5 Special Sessions and was attended by more than 1300 participants. The convention was inaugurated in the august presence of BOS Chairman CA M. Devaraja Reddy, BOS Vice Chairman CA Prafulla P. Chhajed, WIRC Chairman- CA Anil Bhandari, WIRC Vice Chairman- CA Julfesh Shah, WIRC Secretary CA Shruti Shah, WIRC Treasurer CA Priyam Shah, WICASA Chairman CA Satyanarayan Mundhada along with RCMs- CA Priti Savla, CA Mahesh Madkholkar, CA Sunil Patodia, CA Dhiraj Khandelwal, CA Neel Majethia and WICASA Vice Chairman-Shrenik Bothra.

CA Prafulla P. Chhajed, Vice-Chairman, BOS addressed the students and motivate them with his words of wisdom. Thereafter CA M. Devaraja Reddy, Chairman, BOS made the students aware regarding the new measures which BOS is planning to initiate for the welfare of students. The Convention moved forward with the Interactive Session with BOS and thereafter with Special session I – “ Leadership and Motivation” by Brig. Ajit Apte. Then the convention moved forward with Technical Session- I – “Companies Act 2013- Challenges V/s Opportunities” and “Case based- Applicability of Accounting Standards” chaired by CA Khushroo Panthakhy. One paper presentor presented the paper on each topic. Each of the paper was concluded by the expert comments from the session chairman.

With a short lunch break the convention moved forward with the special session II – skit on “Mock Search and Seizure.” A team of 35 students performed the drama and the complete auditorium was mesmerized by their performance.

After a short tea break the convention moved forward with the Special Session III- Debate Discussion-“Is Three Idiots Right way of Education system?” In this debate discussion two panel of three students each from different parts of the country put forward their views on the said topic. The session was chaired by CA Manish Baxi and CA Nilesh Gore.

The second day of convention started with the Technical session II- “ Case study on Valuation of Company” and “ Use of Technology in CA offices” chaired by CA Sujal Shah and CA Ameet Patel.CCM Nihal Jambusariya also addressed the students in this technical session. Two Paper presenters presented their papers on each topic respectively. The session was concluded by the expert comments of the two session chairman on the papers presented by the paper writers.

Then the Convention moved forward with the Technical session III – “Cased Study based on Transfer Pricing” and “Case study based on Mergers and Acquisitions” chaired by CA T.P.Ostwal . One paper presentor presented their paper on each topic respectively. The session was concluded by the expert comments of the session chairman on the papers presented by the paper writers.

After a short lunch break the convention moved forward with the Special Session III- “ Make in India-Your Vision” and “ Swatcha Bharat Abhiyan” chaired by RCM Neel Majethia. Two paper presentors presented their papers on each topic respectively. The session was concluded with the expert comments by the session chairman on papers of paper presenters.

Then the convention moved forward with the Technical session IV-“ GST- Impact on Indian Economy” and “Transaction Tax- Is it Viable?” chaired by CA Sunil Ghabhawala. Two paper presentors presented their papers on each topic respectively. The session was concluded with the expert comments by the session chairman on papers of paper presenters.

Then the Convention moved forward with a special session which was graced by the presence of ICAI President CA K Raghu , ICAI Vice President CA Manoj Fadnis, BOS Vice Chairman CA Prafulla Chhajed, CCM and RCM members who all motivate and enlightened the students with their words of wisdom.

The convention moved forward with the next special session V-Panel Discussion-“Practice V/s Industry V/s Entrepreneurship” The panel consisted of CA Jinendra Bhandari who represented CA’s Role in Practice, CA Vimal Shah who focused on CA as an Entrepreneur and CA Chiranjit Attra who represented CA in Industry.

Thereafter Convention concluded through the valedictory session wherein best paper writers for technical session and special session IV were declared and awards were given. The Convention was concluded with a Vote of Thanks by the WICASA Secretary Ashish Chordiya.
