Under the aegis of Board of Studies of ICAI, Ranchi Branch of CIRC of ICAI hosted a National Convention for CA Students on 14th & 15th of December, 2014. The theme of the convention was “SOUL: the power within”. The convention witnessed a participation of 360 students across the country and was held at the prestigious State Museum Auditorium, Khelgaon, Hotwar, Ranchi.

The inaugural session was graced by the Chief Guest- Sri Gopal Singh, CMD-CCL; CA. Mukesh Singh Kushwah, Central Council Member, ICAI; CA Avichal S.N. Kapur, Secretary-CIRC, ICAI; CA C.L. YADAV, Chairman, CICASA-CIRC, ICAI; CA Uday Jayaswal, Chairman of Ranchi Branch of CIRC of ICAI; CA J.B. AGARWALA, Vice-Chairman of Ranchi Branch; CA Dharmendra Kr. Sinha, Secretary, Ranchi Branch; CA Manish Jain, CICASA Chairman, Ranchi Branch; CA Mahendra Kumar Jain, Member, CICASA Ranchi Branch were also present in inaugural session.

Out of more than 30 papers received from CA Students, 09 best papers were selected to present their paper in the Technical Sessions on the topics ranging from Company Law, Service Tax, Accounts and Direct Tax.

The First Technical Session was on “Companies Act, 2013: A fresh start for the new beginning”, which was headed by CA. PRAMOD JAIN, New Delhi. Mr. MVSK Ruthvik from Hyderabad presented the paper on the topic “Inter Corporate Loans & Loans to directors.” Ms. Manisha Prakash from Ranchi presented the paper on the topic “Changes in provisions related to Auditors”.

After that the Second Technical Session was held on “Service Tax: Changing Regime”, who’s coordinator was CA. Madhukar N. Hiregange from Bangalore. Ms. Shardaben S. Shukla from Valsad (Gujrat) presented a paper on “Negative List”. Mr. Ravi Prasad from Ranchi presented the paper on “Works Contract Service”. Mr. Subhendu Shekhar Sanyal from Kolkata presented the paper on “Reverse Charge Mechanism”.

At the end of first day a cultural evening titled “LAVASA: ek alag si duniya” was organized.

On the second day i.e., on 15th of December, 2014, The Third Technical Session was held on “Accounting: Structuring the base of Industry”, chaired by CA. Mohit Agarwal, Kolkata. Mr. Nikhil Joshi of New Delhi presented a paper on the topic “Schedule II & III of Companies Act, 2013.” Ms. Shweta Suman from Ranchi presented the paper on “Changes in Provisions related to Amalgamation/Demerger”.

Later, a Special Session entitled “Stress Management” was conducted by CA. Vinod Agarwal, Kolkata.

After that Fourth Technical Session was held on “Direct Tax: Fuelling the Economy” whose coordinator was CA. Avinash Gupta from New Delhi. Mr. Nawal Sinhal form New Delhi presented the paper on “MAT & AMT: Concepts, Applicability, Rules”. Mr. Raghav Mall of Kolkata presented the paper on the topic “Capital Gains: Provisions related to Real Estate”.

Lastly, a Special Session entitled “Practical Approach towards Professional Life” was conducted by CA. D.C. Shukla, Kanpur.

The Convention ended with Valedictory session which was graced by Guest of honour- DR. D. K. SRIVASTAVA, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Govt. of Jharkhand, CA Uday Jayaswal, Chairman of Ranchi Branch of CIRC of ICAI, CA Manish Jain, CICASA Chairman, Ranchi Branch of CIRC of ICAI were also present in Valedictory session.

The Convention got huge media publicity at almost all the big players of the print as well as TV media had widely covered the entire event. The whole event was managed and executed by volunteers of Ranchi Branch of CICASA under the tutelage of the Ranchi Branch of CIRC of ICAI. Over all the Convention was a historically grand success and was successful in achieving its desired objectives.
