Under the aegis of Board of Studies, Ghaziabad Branch of CIRC of ICAI and Ghaziabad Branch of CICASA hosted a National Convention of CA Student on 12th & 13th December 2014. The theme of the convention was “TOGETHER TOWARDS TOMORROW”. 754 students participated as delegates in the Convention held at Hotel Country Inn and Suites, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad.

The formal inaugural session was graced by Guest of Honor CA Manoj Fadnis, Vice-President-ICAI, CA Jay Ajit Chhaira, Central Council member, CA Anuj Goyal, Central Council Member, CA Mukesh Singh Kushwah, Central Council Member and CA Vinay Mittal, Regional Council member (CIRC). CA. Gyan Chandra Misra, Chairman-Ghaziabad Branch, CA Nitin Gupta, Vice Chairman-Ghaziabad Branch, CA Ankur Tayal, Secretary-Ghaziabad Branch, CA Naveen Kumar Sharma, Treasurer-Ghaziabad Branch, CA Praveen singhal, CICASA Chairman-Ghaziabad Branch and other Executive members of the Branch were also present in inaugural session.

Out of more than 80 papers received from CA Students, 24 best papers were selected to present their paper in the Technical Sessions on the topics ranging from Direct Taxation, Indirect taxation, Company Law and Soft skills..

The first session was held on Service Tax – new Horizon, in which there were Seven Student Speakers. CA Bimal jain from Delhi was the Key Note Speaker on the topic. He Explained the recent Developments in the Service Tax area. CA Ravi Kumar from Ghaziabad was the session Chairman and deliberated about the GST. In this session, CA Ankur Tayal presented his welcome address and CA. Aditya Gupta-Managing Committee Member Ghaziabad Branch presented his vote of thanks.

After that second technical session was held on Efforts Never Ends, in which there were Six student speakers. CA Jay ajit Chhaira, CCM from Surat was the Key Note speaker and delivered lecture on importance of dedication and determination in life. CA Charan Jot Singh Nanda, CCM from Delhi was the session Chairman and deliberated on the topic “Unleash the power within – Be a effective Communicator”. CA Puneet Sakhuja presented his welcome address and CA Meetanshu Singhal - Managing Committee Member Presented his Vote of thanks.

At the end of first day, a cultural evening was organized and highly appreciated by the participants. Before Starting the cultural evening, Mr Ravish Bhateja delivered a lecture on Soft Skills. Also the Ghaziabad Branch has felicitated its ITT, GMCS and Orientation Course Faculties for their continuous service to the students.

On the second day i.e., on 13th December 2014, third technical session was held on Direct Taxation, in which there were Six student speakers. CA Sanjeev Choudhary, CCM from Gurgaon was the key note speaker on the topic and discussed the recent developments in the Direct Taxation. CA. Jitender Goel was the session Chairman and deliberated on recent Changes in Tax Audit report. CA Konika Mishra presented her welcome address. CA. Praveen Kumar Singhal – CICASA Chairman presented his vote of thanks.

After the third Technical session, there was interactive session with Board of Studies. BOS representative CA Priya Surbramanian and CA Smita Mishra deliberated with the participants and addressed the queries of the students. In the Session, CA Gyan Chandra Misra, Chairman of the Ghaziabad Branch has also discussed the issued regarding parents respect, CAs vs MBAs, Youth Power etc.

After that fourth technical session on “Companies Act, 2013 – Challenge or Opportunity” was held, in which there were Six student speakers. CA George Kurian was the Key Speaker on the Topic and he discussed the Compliance and CSR around the world. CA Madhu Sudan Kapur, Past Chairman of Ghaziabad Branch was session chairman and discussed the recent changes in Company laws. CA. Raghvendra Goel presented his welcome address and CA Rajeev VD Gupta presented his vote of thanks.

After the forth Technical session, A special session was organized which was graced by Chief Guest Hon’ble Dr Subramanian Swamy and Guest of honour CA (Dr.) Suneel Maggo. Dr Swamy deliberated on various issues like Women Empowerment, Self Confidence, Role of Chartered Accountants in Exposing Scams etc.. The session was highly appreciated by all the participants.

The Convention got huge media publicity and media had widely covered the entire event. The whole event was managed and executed by team of 38 Students Volunteers under the guidance of CA Puneet Sakhuja – Event Coordinator. Over all the Convention was successful in achieving its desired objectives.
