Under the aegis of Board of Studies, NIRC of ICAI hosted a National Convention for CA Student on 17th and 18th December, 2014. The theme of the convention was “Indian Economy in the Current Scenario….. Global Leader”. The convention was a historic event, where more than 1500 student participated as delegates and was held at the most prestigious venue Siri Fort Auditorium, Khel Gaon Marg, Siri Fort Road, New Delhi – 110 049.

The introduction about the National Convention was given by CA. Raj Chawla, Chairman, NICASA followed by Welcome Address by CA. Radhey Shyam Bansal, Chairman, NIRC of ICAI.

The formal inaugural session was graced by Chief Guest Shri Subramanian Swamy ji, Hon’ble Past Member of Parliament of India and Renowned Economist. CA. K. Raghu, Hon’ble President ICAI, CA. Prafulla Premsukh Chhajed, Vice-Chairman, BOS, ICAI, CA. Radhey Shyam Bansal, Chairman, NIRC, CA. Manoj Kumar Bansal, Vice-Chairman, NIRC, CA. Swadesh Gupta, Secretary, NIRC, CA. Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Treasurer, NIRC, CA. Raj Chawla, NICASA Chairman, CA. Yogita Anand, NICASA Member, CA. Deepak Garg, Executive Member, NIRC, CA. Hans Raj Chugh, Executive Member, NIRC, CA. Rajinder Narang, Executive Member, NIRC, CA. Vishal Garg, Executive Member, NIRC, Shri Vijay Kapur, Director, BOS, CA. (Dr.) Suneel Maggo, CA. Ravinder Pawar and Shri Sudershan Saxena, Social Activist Economic & Current Affairs, Delhi Govt. were also present. The Chief Guest delivered his speech and focused on Indian economy and guided the Students on various matters. CA. K. Raghu, Hon’ble President, ICAI also delivered an erudite lecture on the said occasion. CA. Prafulla Premsukh Chhajed, Vice-Chairman, BOS, ICAI also shared the views and suggested certain things for the future and success of the Students. CA. Naveen N.D. Gupta, Central Council Member also attended the convention on 17th December, 2014.

Out of 146 papers received from CA Students, 28 best papers were selected to present their paper in the Technical Sessions on the topics Accounts & Audit, Company Laws, Professional Opportunity for CA Profession, Indirect Taxes, Direct & International Taxation and Make in India.

The First Technical Session – Accounts and Audit (Topic 1 - The Auditor’s Report on Financial Statements – SA 700, 705 & 706 and Topic 2 -Accounting Standards – 31 & 32); Second Technical Session – Company Laws (Topic 1 - Companies Act 2013 – Issues in implementation and Topic 2 - Changing Role of Auditor under the Companies Act 2013) and Third Technical Session - Professional Opportunity for CA Profession (Topic 1 - Fixed Assets and Depreciation thereon under the new Companies Act and Topic 2 - Detection of frauds with the recent changes in Cyber Laws) were held on 17th December, 2014 besides a Motivational Session - "Unleash the Power within: Be an Efficient Communication" – By CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, Central Council Member, ICAI.

The Fourth Technical Session – Indirect Taxes (Topic 1 - Challenges in implementation of GST in India and Topic 2 - Role of CA in new regime of Foreign Trade Policy), Fifth Technical Session – Direct and International Taxation ( Topic 1 - Transfer Pricing : Recent measures to reduce litigation and Topic 2 - Tax Audit u/s 44AB: Recent Developments) and Sixth Technical Sessions – Make in India (Topic 1 - Power of Sub conscious mind and Topic 2 - Money versus Values) were held on 18th December, 2014. CA. Girish Ahuja, a renowned faculty delivered his lecture on Taxation and guide the students. An interactive session with Shri Vijay Kapur, Director, BOS, ICAI was also held. CA. Amarjit Chopra, Past President, ICAI delivered his erudite lecture for the benefit and growth of the Students.

At the end of first day a cultural extravaganza was organized by CA Students which was highly appreciated by the participants.

The whole event was managed and executed by NIRC of ICAI with the help and assistance of NICASA. Over all the Convention was a historically grand success and was successful in achieving its desired objectives.
