Under the aegis of Board of Studies, Bilaspur Branch jointly with Raipur & Bhilai Branches of CIRC of ICAI and Bilaspur, Raipur and Bhilai Branches of CICASA hosted a National Convention of CA Students on 13th& 14th December 2014. The theme of the convention was “ENLIGHTENING THE LIGHT WITHIN YOU”. The convention was a historic event, where 799 students participated as delegates and was held at the most prestigious venue at Guru Ghasidas Central University, Bilaspur.

The formal inaugural session was graced by Chief Guest Sh. Darshan Singh, Commissioner of Income Tax, Bilaspur, Guest of Honor Sh. S. P. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Ghasidas Central University, Bilaspur, CA. Mukesh Singh Kushwah, C.C. Member and Convention Director, CA. Nitish Agrawal, Chairman, CIRC, CA. Avichal SN Kapur, Secretary, CIRC, CA. C.L. Yadav, CICASA Chairman, CIRC, CA. Shashikant Chandrakar, Chairman-Raipur Branch, CA. Anand Agrawal, Chairman-Bilaspur Branch, CA. Ajay Pandey, Secretary-Bilaspur Branch, CA. Piyush Jain, Secretary-Bhilai Branch, CA. Om Prakash Modi, CICASA Chairman-Bilaspur were also present in inaugural session.

The Convention was attended by Managing committee members of Host and Co-Host Branches viz CA. Rajul Jajodia-Vice-Chairman-Bilaspur, CA. Manish Sakhuja-Treasurer-Bilaspur, CA. Anshuman Jajodia-Exe. Member-Bilaspur, CA. Amit Chimnani-Secretary-Raipur, CA. Nitin Rungta-CICASA Chairman-Bhilai, CA. Chetan Tarwani-CICASA Chairman-Raipur, Galaxy of past chairmen of Bilaspur Branch, Members from all over Chhattisgarh etc.

After the inaugural session there was a special session in which the delegates got an opportunity to interact with BOS which was represented by CA. Mukesh Singh Kushwah, Convention Director and CA. Ashish Gupta, Sr. Asst. Director, BOS, Noida. The session was chaired by CA. Nitish Agrawal, Chairman, CIRC of ICAI.

Out of more than 40 papers received from CA Students 22 best papers were selected to present their paper in the Technical Sessions on the topics ranging from Audit & Accounts, Taxation, Corporate Law & IT Environment and Life of a CA Student.

The first session was held on Audit & Accounts, in which there were six student speakers. Mr. Vidyadhar Mandava from Vijaywada and Mr. Ashish Goyal from Bhopal delivered speech on Accounting and Internal Audit of Hotel Industry, Mr. Milind Joshi from Baroda and Mr. Deepak Jain from Jalore delivered their speech on AS – 30,31 & 32, and to conclude the session Mr. Rakesh Ghosh Gope from Guwahati and Mr. Lakshminarsimhan P. from Chennai spoke on The Auditors Report on Financial Statements – SA 700, 705 & 706. The session was chaired by CA. Avichal SN Kapur, Secretary, CIRC of ICAI.

After that second technical session was held on Taxation, in which there were six student speakers. Mr. Karan Singh Chabbra from Mumbai and Mr. Kushal Agrawal from Delhi delivered speech on Overview of Wealth Tax, Ms. Neha Agrawal from Bilaspur and Mr. Shailendra Kumar from Durg delivered their speech on Provisions of Section 43CA of The Income Tax Act, 1961, and to conclude the session Ms. Shardaben Shivshankar Shukla from Valsad and Mr. Varadadesikan K. E. from Pondicherry spoke on Works Contract under Service Tax. The session was chaired by CA. C. L. Yadav, CICASA Chairman, CIRC of ICAI.

At the end of first day a cultural extravaganza was highly appreciated by the participants.

On the second day i.e., on 14th December 2014, third technical session was held on Corporate Law & IT Environment, in which there were six student speakers. Ms. Stuti Arya and Mr. Kabir both from Bilaspur delivered speech on Allotment & Transfer of Shares - Companies Act 1956 vs. Companies Act 2013, Ms. Kriti Mittal and Mr. Gaurav Mittal both from Bilaspur delivered their speech on e-Meeting & e-notices under Companies Act 2013, and to conclude the session Mr. Satish Kumar G. from Thane and Md. Moshahid Raza from Delhi spoke on Provisions of Sections 73, 74, 185 & 186 of Companies Act 2013. The session was chaired by CA. Om Prakash Modi, CICASA Chairman, Bilaspur.

After that there was a Special Session of Interaction with the Vice-President of the ICAI, which was followed by another special session which was a motivational session voiced by CA. Anshul MIttal from Ghaziabad.

After that fourth technical session was held on Life of a CA Student, in which there were four student speakers. Mr. Ankit Agrawal from Delhi and Ms. Meenal Jain from Bhopal delivered speech on Pressure & joy of Articleship parallel to Academics, and to conclude the session Ms. Mili Dey from Bilaspur and Ms. Jyoti Tiwari from Durg spoke on "Exam" - Three most crucial hours of life. The session was chaired by CA. Vinod Mittal, Past-Chairman, Bilaspur Branch of CIRC of ICAI.

The Convention got huge media publicity at almost all the big players of the print as well as TV media had widely covered the entire event. The whole event was managed and executed by volunteers of Bilaspur Branch of CICASA. Over all the Convention was a historically grand success and was successful in achieving its desired objectives.
